John explains the many advantages of working in acrylics, particularly for capturing light and mood in a subject. As well as an overview of the materials and techniques specific to acrylics, the book also addresses issues of composition, light and colour, working on location and developing ideas in the studio. With text written in conjunction with Robin Capon, the book is filled with John’s inspiring and atmospheric paintings.
This book is also available packaged with John’s DVD "Capturing Light in Acrylics".More info here...
(8/10) Submitted by: Ken 19-May-2011 I've been interested in John Hammond's work ever since I saw his video. This book is an extension of the vid and just adds to its value. John builds a painting with layers. This is something very easy to do with acrylics as he shows. Easier said than done, I might add. A valuable addition to an artist's library.
